PABs play a crucial role in the care of beneficiaries in private seniors' residences (RPAs) and other healthcare environments. To ensure the safety and well-being of these beneficiaries, it is essential that PABs are well trained in first aid and resuscitation.
Training objectives

- Reinforce first aid skills
- Participants will learn essential skills for responding to medical emergencies, including airway management, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bleeding management and more.

Legislation:
1. According to Appendix IV of the "Règlement sur la certification des résidences privées pour aînés" :
"First aid training is the training referred to in one of the following paragraphs, when given by the organization referred to therein:
1° any organization recognized by the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail to provide first aid training in the workplace;
2° any other organization offering a minimum of 16 hours of first aid training that complies with the Canadian Standards Association standard CSA Z1210-17 "Workplace First Aid Training - Program and Quality Management for Training Organizations", including subsequent amendments.
The organization referred to in one of the paragraphs of the first subparagraph is authorized to issue certificates of achievement corresponding to the training referred to in that same paragraph."
- Consequently, Académie Saint-Bernard offers the "Secourisme - Niveau Intermédiaire (16h) - Conforme à la norme CSA Z1210-17" training program to meet this requirement.

(No transitional measures.)"
- Thus, our "First Aid - Intermediate Level (16h) - CSA Z1210-17 compliant" training is mandatory for all RPA supervisors.
